Overtime and Shift Cost Calculator

Estimate crew pay from regular hours, overtime hours, hourly rate and an entered multiplier.

Work pay estimate

Multiply regular hours by the regular hourly rate. Multiply overtime hours by that rate and the chosen overtime multiplier. Add the shift allowance per worker, then multiply by worker count. Two workers with 40 regular hours, 5 overtime hours, a rate of 100 and a multiplier of 1.5 cost 9500.

Limits

The calculator does not determine legal overtime limits or mandatory premiums. The multiplier is only an example. Regular and overtime hours must not overlap. Enter the shift allowance once for the entire period. Taxes, social contributions, leave and payroll deductions are excluded. Check contract terms and applicable rules with a qualified adviser.

Separate amounts per person from totals

For three people, use 8 regular hours and 2 overtime hours per person, regular rate 50 and example multiplier 1.25. Choose a shift addition of 20 per person. Regular pay is 3 × 8 × 50 = 1200 and overtime pay is 3 × 2 × 50 × 1.25 = 375. Additions total 3 × 20 = 60 and overall cost is 1635. Total work is 3 × (8 + 2) = 30 person hours. Neither the rate nor the multiplier claims to be a statutory value.

Overtime pay is the full multiplied pay for those hours, not just the premium difference. Including overtime within regular hours and then entering it again as overtime counts it twice. The shift addition is a period total per person, not an hourly supplement.

If workers have different rates or hours, calculate groups with matching conditions separately and add their totals. The result is neither net pay nor full employer cost. Taxes, social charges and deductions are not automatically added or subtracted. Payroll scope and the classification of working hours require separate verification.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate overtime pay for hourly employees?

For example, 2 workers each working 5 overtime hours at an hourly rate of 100 and overtime multiplier 1.5 receive total overtime pay of 1500.00 currency units. Multiply worker count, overtime hours, hourly rate and multiplier, noting that this preliminary calculation excludes taxes, insurance and payroll deductions and uses an example multiplier rather than a legal entitlement.
