Calendar Project Schedule

Build a dated schedule and bar chart from working days, holidays and activity dependencies, with critical activities identified.

Build a calendar schedule

Enter the start date, working weekdays and holidays. Give every activity a unique ID, name and duration in whole working days. Predecessors must finish before the activity can begin. Lag is the number of working days to wait after all predecessors finish. For an activity without predecessors, lag is counted from the project start.

Read the dates

An activity with a positive duration starts at the beginning of its start date and finishes at the end of its finish date. A two day activity starting on Friday finishes on Monday when weekends are closed. A zero duration milestone is shown at the end of the working day when its predecessors and any lag finish. A milestone following work completed on Friday stays on Friday, and its successor starts on Monday. An initial milestone is shown at the start of the first working day.

Duration and limits

Working duration is the critical path length including waits, rather than the sum of all activity durations. Calendar duration counts both the entered start date and the final activity date. The project finishes on the last working day used for work or lag. A schedule containing only initial milestones finishes on its first working day, with zero working duration and at least one calendar day. Bars span calendar dates and include any closed days between start and finish. All activities share one calendar. Public holiday data, resource levelling and uncertain durations are excluded. Limits are 200 activities, 10000 working days of combined duration and lag, and start years from 1900 through 2100.
