Quantity Takeoff Table Sum

Sum pasted table quantities by item and unit. Review every parsed number and skipped row.

Sum a quantity table

Copy a table and paste it into the text area. Select the delimiter and indicate whether the first row is a header. Map the item, quantity and optional unit columns. Choose the decimal mark separately. With point selected, 1,250.50 means 1250.5. Adding 2.5 gives 1253. The interpretation table shows each original quantity cell and its parsed number so you can check the result before using it.

Limits

Blank quantities, invalid numbers and rows with inconsistent column counts are skipped and counted. Different units remain separate and are never converted. Grand totals are shown by unit. If you omit the unit column, you must confirm that every quantity uses the same unit. The xlsx format is unsupported. Quoted delimiters, embedded line breaks and escaped double quotes are supported. Item names must match exactly after trimming outer whitespace. Differences in letter case or internal spacing are never merged automatically.

Before using the totals

Set the header option to match the pasted table. Leaving it enabled for data without a header removes the first quantity from the calculation. Decimal mark and column delimiter are separate settings. A comma decimal table using commas as delimiters needs appropriate quoting or a different delimiter.

For example, the same Covering item has 2.25 m² and 1.75 m², while a Profile item has 3 kg. Covering totals 2.25+1.75 = 4 m². Profile remains 3 kg separately. Grand totals also keep 4 m² and 3 kg separate. Do not combine them into one material quantity.

Correct inconsistent unit labels in the source. Different labels do not trigger automatic conversion. Different names for the same item may also split groups. If the same data is pasted twice, the tool does not identify and remove duplicate records. Compare raw cells, parsed quantities and skipped rows before transferring totals. Correct arithmetic does not establish that the takeoff matches the drawings or contains no duplicated items.
