Facade Cladding and Panel Quantity Calculator
Finds the net cladding area, the order area with waste, the number of panels and the length of vertical support rails from facade size and openings.
How is cladding quantity taken off?
Start with the gross facade area: width times height. Deduct doors, windows and any other openings that will not be clad to get the net area. For ordering, the net area is increased by a waste allowance: order area = net area × (1 + waste).
Number of panels
The order area is divided by the area of one panel and rounded up. With lapped siding or interlocking panels, enter the visible size after installation, not the overall size, or the count will come out short.
Support rail length
Cladding is usually fixed to vertical rails. The number of rail lines is the facade width divided by the rail spacing, rounded up, plus one. The total length is that number times the facade height.
Example
A facade 12 m wide and 6 m high with 8 m² of openings has a net area of 64 m². With 8 percent waste you order 69.12 m². That is 24 panels of 100 × 300 cm. At 60 cm spacing there are 21 vertical rail lines, 126 m in total.
Limits
This is a preliminary quantity. The firm order comes from a panel layout showing joints and corners. Rail spacing, fixings and wind resistance are determined by the design of the support system.
